Tuskless elephant Makhna first time seen in Chitwan



The makhna  (tuskless elephant), is an uncommon find in Nepali forests; it was discovered in Sauraha, Chitwan, for the first time. makhna is the name of a male elephant without a beard. There are extremely few makhna in Nepal’s jungles. This peculiar male elephant is entering Chitwan, his new home, and mingling with domestic elephants. makhna, who is approximately 17 years old, was first observed on November 18. It was not until 50 years after Chitwan Park was established that makhna was sighted for the first time. makhna had before been spotted in Jhapa from Bahundangi.
